Here at Couthie we love working with Artists of all ages
One of our earliest collaborations was with with Ann Dickson, who originally designed a range of dancing fairy cards for us: Fantoosh.
We then discovered a shared love of the Scots language!
It was while Ann was in the studio having a blether that we came up with the idea of a Scottish Pairs game. A few sessions later we hammered down the words and it was over to Ann to work on the images.
The design brief allowed a few cheeky ones to slip in, to keep the bairns and big yins amused!
Scottish Pairs was an immediate hit, so we commissioned her again to draft the cute drawings for the Scottish Happy Families .
We all had great fun working out the family names and professions.
She has been thrilled to work on projects for children that have Scottish culture at its core.
Ann, now retired after a long career as a primary school teacher, had studied The Development of Children in Art and Design at Heriot-watt University as recently as 1995. She was an Art specialist with ELDC Scotland.
Ann continues her passion working in local art projects in East Lothian.
